About us

Our Mission

Our Youth For The Climate ↳also known as OY4C

is a global grassroots organization and youth-driven movement. We aim to catalyze systemic change by providing high-quality and accessible climate education to the next generation, creating widespread awareness and action toward our future.

Our Story

Our movement began with the realization that the very people who are going to be most impacted by climate change are the same people who are the least aware of the ongoing crisis. Over the past two years, we have built an education-oriented community that pushes for awareness and advocacy for the climate. It all started with our founder, Ava Langridge. Through Zoom classes, social media pages, and outreach, she and others alike have worked towards a better, more sustainable future. Today, we have a global team led by over 90 youth leaders from communities around the world, who are working each day to actively make a difference.

We believe knowledge is power, and our goals reflect this. Our current and main goal is to create a curriculum that can be taught in schools across the globe. By making climate education more accessible with this curriculum, we strive to empower our youth to push for radical systemic change in their communities on the other side of the world.

Time is running out for our planet. But together, we can change that.

Our Values

1. We bring education about climate to the masses, primarily to our youngest generations

OY4C is a youth movement dedicated to educating young people about the urgent climate crisis. By raising awareness and inspiring action, we aim to create a community ready to fight for our planet's future. Our focus is on empowering the younger generations, who will be most affected, with the knowledge and tools to drive change.

2.We work and decide together as community

Our goal is collective action for positive change. While starting locally is crucial for global impact, true transformation requires united efforts. By mobilizing as a collective, we amplify our voices, demand bold climate action, and advocate for meaningful measures to secure our planet's future.

3. We welcome everyone from all backgrounds

OY4C welcomes all who are ready to make a difference. Regardless of where you're from or what actions you've taken against this crisis, we encourage everyone to stand up. Impact is what counts, and the more who join, the louder our voices become. Our aim is to forge an inclusive community dedicated to advocating for transformative change. We invite everyone to join us, regardless of background. Our strength lies in unity, and together, we can shape a brighter tomorrow.

4. We create change with peaceful actions

We persist in advocating for systemic change through peaceful actions and protests. Our planet lacks a voice, so we speak out against the climate injustices neglected by governments. With each passing day, the climate crisis intensifies, impacting more lives. Urgent and radical change is imperative, and time is running short. Our voices are potent tools that must be wielded now. We commit to non-violent yet impactful actions, focusing on empowering younger generations without causing harm.

5.We respect everyone's path to sustainability and stand by them, no matter where they begin.

The journey to sustainability demands motivation and time, and we embrace all who are ready to begin or continue theirs. Whether you're making lifestyle adjustments or community strides, progress can be challenging yet worthwhile. Every effort counts, no matter its size. At OY4C, we're committed to supporting you on your sustainable journey through guidance and collective action.

6. We focus on Intersectional Environmentalism

Intersectionalism in climate activism, as Leah Thomas articulates, involves recognizing "the interconnected ways injustices impact marginalized communities and the earth." As a team, we go beyond mere inclusivity to prioritize those in marginalized communities most affected by the climate crisis. We understand that everyone's background is different, and we value each person's unique path to sustainability. Our goal is to support individuals facing discrimination and advocate for climate action that considers the diverse resources available to each person.
